RBSE first to conduct Teachers' Eligibility Test

The state government on Friday issued an order to the board to conduct the test according to the guidelines of the National Council for Technical Education (NCTE). The board has decided to complete the first test within two months to provide 50,000 eligible candidates prior to the new academic year beginning June.

Last month, the NCTE had issued an order to conduct eligibility test for teachers on the pattern of National Eligibility Test for college lecturers conducted by the UGC. The state government on Friday nominated the education board to conduct the test.

The board has started planning to conduct the first test in May. "It is a tough task because of the board exams. We plan to make different cell and office for TET. The aim is to provide 50,000 eligible teachers to the state before June," Subash Garg, chairman of the board, said.

He said according to guidelines, there will be two categories for eligibility -- the first will be for teachers from Class I to V and the other for teachers from Class VI to VIII. "The paper will be in two shifts and we will ask for online applications from candidates and issue TET certificates until May 30," added Garg.
