Although day five of the CAT exam went off comparatively well, it was a disaster for around 15 students of a batch appearing for the exam at Priyadarshani College of Engineering. These students will now be allotted new dates for the exams.
The online CAT exam has left many MBA aspirants jittery as the online system developed innumerable technical stags. Approximately 6,000 students had applied to appear from Nagpur division, with 1,600 candidates applying from the nearby regions.
The technical faults at the exam centres were the not the only problems for many of the students. Many applicants had come to Nagpur from nearby towns like Raipur and other parts of Chhattisgarh and MP to appear for the exam. Such students usually book tickets for an overnight journey to Nagpur and have their return tickets ready. With many exams rescheduled, some students had to arrange for lodging arrangements at short notice.
The CAT disaster also hit participants psychologically. Many students complained that the whole episode shook their determination and composure, which is a big necessity for the test.
"Some students complained that the environment provided was not free and fair. Even if a computer machine malfunctions, they had no idea whom to complain to. Even if they attempt to do so, they may only end up wasting another 10 minutes of the allotted two hours duration," said Nihit Mor of Career Launcher.
