Government offices fail to learn from past!!!

THE learned men who administer the city seem to have forgotten the old maxim that most of us have learn in our school days : Who fail to learn from their mistakes are destined to repeat them. After spending over two weeks without power last month, the officials at Tehsil offices have restarted wastage of the power.

As such, lights, fans, ACs and even computers are kept on while there is no one around or even when there is no need at all. Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) had snapped the power supply to Urban Tehsil Office and Rural Tehsil Office, Civil Lines, on October 27 for non payment of electricity bills to the tune of Rs 13.17 lakh and Rs 3.38 lakh, respectively. These offices then had to function without electric supply. Work was hampered causing problems to the officials as well as the people. For almost two weeks, these officials worked in candle light. Things used to become worse during evening hours. Later when MSEDCL was assured of the payment of the dues, the power was restored. But now after just a month, apathetic use of electrical equipments is rule of the day, clearly indicating that the officials have failed to learn from the past. The offices already owe ample amount to the power distribution company and such heedless use of power will undoubtfully add to the dues. Moreover, the Government through the media and other sources keeps on appealing to save power. But does it not applies on its own as well? When one peeks into such offices, all that one can appeal to the Government officials is set your house in order.
