Activists of Association of Aided and Unaided Colleges, led by corporator Prakash Gajbhiye, vented their ire over University Grants Commission (UGC), state and Central government policies by burning an ordinance during a protest rally in front of Nagpur University office on Friday.
As per the January 30 ordinance, 25,000 lecturers from across the state having not cleared the NET, SET face the threat of losing their jobs.
The college association has been urging the university officials to take a proactive stand and cancel the ordinance. Besides this, they are also demanding that the minimum experience criteria required for principal’s post should be reduced from 15 to 7 years for open category and five years for SC/ST candidates.
This relaxation in experience criteria will ensure that none of the posts remain vacant. The agitating activists are demanding extension in the last date of filling in the posts of principals to December 31, 2012.
The association wants the state government to relax the education policy in the interests of the masses. They are demanding that the January 30 ordinance that goes against interest of those who have not cleared NET/SET should be repealed.
