The Amravati bench of State Information Commission (SIC) has issued show-cause notices to Nagpur University pro-vice chancellor GS Parasher, who is first appellate officer, and registrar (Acting) Debendranath Mishra, who is public information officer, for their failure to follow its directives.
They were asked why action should not be initiated against them. The notices were issued after secretary of Civil Human Rights Protection Association Prakash Bansod lodged a complaint in this regard to the SIC alleging that the officials had violated the provisions of Right to Information (RTI) Act.
The duo have been told to remain personally present on Friday at 2 pm with the required documents explaining the reason why the directions were not followed. In case of their inability to do so, it would be assumed they had nothing to say and action would be taken, the notice said. Parasher told TOI that his lawyer would attend the hearing on Friday and it was just a “regular hearing”.
