It seems that Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) is seriously thinking to reduce the distribution losses as it has unearthed 1,972 power thefts mounting to Rs 1,35,95,000 crore in just 15 days. Nagpur Urban Circle has set a record with 781 power thefts mounting to whooping Rs 95,09,000.
MSEDCL has undertaken 15 day-long power theft drive in all parts of the State between November 3 to November 18. Under the guidance of D S Talware, Chief Engineer, Nagpur Urban Zone, and M S Kele, Superintending Engineer, the power theft squads unearthed 781 power thefts mounting to whooping Rs 95,09,000 in all five divisions of Nagpur city, and recovered Rs 36,10,000 from 292 power theft accused. Here Congress Nagar Division under the leadership of B Y Khandait has set a record to recover fine of Rs 11,70,000 as against total power theft amount of Rs 11,71,000. In Nagpur Rural Circle (Rural parts of Nagpur district), MSEDCL could unearth 260 power thefts mounting to Rs 16,59,000 and recovered Rs 2,93,000 from 24 power theft accused under the guidance of K P Bhagat, Superintending Engineer. Totally, MSEDCL unearthed 1041 power thefts mounting to Rs 1,11,68,000, and recovered fine of Rs 39,03,000 from 316 power theft accused. In Nagpur Rural Zone including all five districts- Chandrapur, Bhandara, Wardha, Gadchiroli, and Gondia, MSEDCL unearthed 931 power thefts mounting to Rs 24,27,000 and recovered Rs 2,43,000 from 44 power theft accused under the guidance of Ashok Tehre, Chief Engineer. Totally, MSEDCL under the guidance of Anil Khaparde, Regional Executive Director, unearthed 1,972 power thefts in Nagpur Division mounting to Rs 1,35,95,000, and recovered Rs 41,46,000 from 360 power theft accused. The circle-wise Superintending Engineers who took efforts for such huge success include M S Kele, Nagpur City, K P Bhagat, Nagpur Rural, A A Dhote, Bhandara, P M Mate, Gondia, Raju Bhongade, Chandrapur, B P Bahate, Gadchiroli, and L M Borikar, Wardha. The division-wise Executive Engineers of Nagpur city include B Y Khandait, Congress Nagar, P S Dhanolikar, Mahal, S R Gandhewar, Civil Lines, V B Nichale, Gandhibagh, and Ashok Fulkar, MIDC.
