Starbus parking problem to be solved soon in Nagpur

The Starbus City Bus Stop, that is need of the hour to minimise traffic congestion in busy Sitabuldi area and provide relief to passengers, is likely to come up behind Morbhavan Bus Stop in Sitabuldi as District Collector Praveen Darade has convened a meeting between Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), and Dr Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV) on November 21 to solve the problem.

Currently, NMC Starbus Operator- M/s Vansh Nimay Infrastructure Private Limited is running 230 Starbuses in the city including 150 standard-size bus, and 80 Mini Starbus. Due to lack of bus stop in Buldi area, the Starbus pick and drop the passengers between Jhansi Rani square, and Variety square, and on North Ambazari road between Jhansi Rani Square, and University Library square. Due to parking of buses on these two busy roads, and standing of a large number of passengers aside of these roads, there is a severe traffic congestion problem in Buldi area and passengers are forced to undergo hardship. Considering this, NMC wished to establish a bus stop for Starbus in Buldi, but could not get any land. A land measuring 1.425 hectare of PDKV with Khasra no-83 is reserved for bus stop and located just behind Morbhavan Bus Stop. NMC had requested PDKV to give the land, but could not achieve success. Considering this, NMC has now requested District Administration to ask PDKV to give the land. Taking serious cognisance of the problem, Darade has immediately called a meeting with PDKV officials, and NMC officials at 11 am on November 21, at Chhatrapati Shivaji Hall, Collectorate. NMC Administration has decided to keep a proposal before PDKV to solve the problem. NMC is having a land aside of PDKV land in Futala square in Ambazari. NMC is ready to give equal land to PDKV in lieu of Buldi plot. Since the alternate land is adjacent to PDKV land near Futala, it can be fruitfully used by the PDKV. NMC is going to keep this proposal in the meeting and with this the problem is likely to be solved. If PDKV accepts the proposal, the Starbus City Bus Stop will come very soon behind Morbhavan Bus Stop as Starbus Operator is ready to develop the bus stop at his own cost.
