During its meeting on Friday, the Management Council of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), took an important decision to get its 44 acre land back. As per the decision, the RTMNU Registrar will sign an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government. The MoU will be between RTMNU and Revenue Department.
During the meeting, it was brought to the notice of the members that High Court had directed the District Collector to remove encroachment on 5 acre land out of 44 acre. The Management Council unanimously passed a resolution that the Collector should remove encroachments from the said land, within six months. It was suggested in the meeting that the University should ensure fencing around this 44 acre land and take due care of its security as it’s now the university’s duty to guard the land. Secondly, the University too will prepare its development plan which is expected to come up on this 44 acre land. Dr Vedprakash Mishra, seniormost member of Management Council, pointed out that not only 44 acre land but the University should strive hard to get complete 70.09 acre land back. The University should see that the land other than 44 acre land, also encroached by miscreants, should be freed. But its high time that the University should take serious steps to get back this land also which is owned by it, he said. The meeting accepted Dr Vedprakash Mishra Committee’s report regarding conferment of D Litt. The qualification for Vice-Chancellor and rules for the constitution of committee for selection of VC was adopted in the meeting. The next Vice-Chancellor will be appointed in accordance with these guidelines. University approves Bawankar’s termination The termination of Shalini Bawankar, a teacher of Dayanand Arya Kanya Vidyalaya, was okayed by the University, on Friday. It may be noted that a Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr Pramod Yeole, was constituted with Karuna Kale, Dr Sharayu Taywade, Dr Kalpana Jadhav and Dr Keshav Bhandarkar as its members. The committee, after considering all aspects, submitted its report mentioning that charges were proved after following principles of natural justice, but terminating Bawankar was not just. The report was rejected and the University gave its nod for Bawankar’s termination.
